On the 16th of August 2017, Benghazi City Hall witnessed the signing ceremony of MOU between Benghazi Municipality and the French non-governmental humanitarian agency, ACTED. The MOU signed by Benghazi Municipality Chairman Abdel Rahman Alabbar and ACTED Libya representative Hisham Werfalli, with local signatory partners, representing LIBAID, Director Hussein al-Falah; Civil Society Commission Salem Al-Mudani, Director of Training, and other representatives from Benghazi University and Benghazi Medical Center.
Through the MOU, ACTED aims to provide support, assistance and raise the capacity of local public stakeholders and civil society organizations improving service delivery and supporting the reconstruction planning efforts. Moreover, the MOU establishes principles of cooperation between ACTED and Benghazi Municipality as well as the other primary local stakeholders; LIBAID, the Civil Society Commission, Benghazi University and Benghazi Medical Center, in implementing agreed upon projects funded by the EU Commission and French Foreign Ministry. These projects come in partnership with Emilia Romagna region and Alma Mater Institute of the University of Bologna, Italy as well as France’s National School of Administration and the University Hospital of Poitiers .
During his speech at the signing ceremony, Benghazi Municipality Chairman, expressed recognition for ACTED’s support and assistance of local stakeholders, praising ACTED’s role in raising local partnerships. For his part, ACTED Libya representative, Hisham Werfalli, thanked and showed appreciation for Benghazi Municipality chairman equating his signatory as a backing from the municipality facilitating ACTED’s work and support for the successes for its targeted projects that first and foremost bolster the public good.
